Mon Oct 11, 5: I'm going to start investing in some funds with the hope that I can build my wealth significantly over the next ten years or so I feel my retirement investments are fairly safe at their current levels and if anything I'm over-investing in this area.

I don't have a ton of experience but I'm fairly well-read on the basics. Having said that, I was considering opening a USAA investment account since I do all my banking there. Their funds seem a little limited next to places like Vanguard, but I don't know if there's an added convenience that's worth keeping it all under one roof.

This is going to be ALL managed funds for now, so that's something to take into consideration. So does anyone here invest through USAA? Are you happy with their online interface, customer service, fees, etc? For full disclosure, I'm maxing my TSP k and will be maxing a Roth IRA starting next year.

Mon Oct 11, 9: I have two, and honestly, no better now worse then other places. I really just moved over because I prefer all my money in the same location.

Plus, it is nice to see all accounts on one page as well. Never had a problem with customer service, as a matter of fact, most stuff becomes easier with them because they have all the infomation already.

I know that probably did not help, but hey, they usually turn a profit every year and you could probably do worse. Mon Oct 18, 8: Used to have one.

Mon Oct 18, 9: Tue Oct 19, 9: My wife has her Roth IRA with them. Service and web interface are fine, fund offerings are not competitive as others are saying. Not horrible, but you can find lower fees and equivalent performance elsewhere at places like Vanguard or Fidelity.

I've been particularly disappointed in their index funds they don't really have many, and those they do have are burdened with rather high fees. The one thing you might have going for you is that if you are a USAA customer, USAA has much lower minimums than a lot of other places to avoid fund fees.

Once you've got some sizable assets this advantage goes away, but if you're starting small it might be a consideration.

I love their service and interface, and the low fees are a good benefit. That being said, when I have a larger asset base I'll probably have to move my investment accounts somewhere else. Right now I have a Roth IRA and a mutual fund with them. I do all my other banking with them; so having everything in one spot is good.

I was also able to import my other accounts into their dashboard. Sun Oct 24, 1: I looked into Vanguard and their fees are considerably lower so I'll probably open an account with them instead. I liked the older web interface a little better. It was easier to make contributions to the funds than it is now.

Not so much anymore. I'll have to look into Vanguard though.
